April 2024

Daffodil Parade

The Ambassadors attended the 91st Annual Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The weather was a huge factor as usual and did not disappoint those who brought umbrellas, raincoats, jackets, boots, and left their sunglasses at home. It was the first year that Piercella, our Fair mascot, road in the parade. She did not mind the rain and vigorously waved to all along the parade route.

UPDATE: It was a wet one in 2024! And a little chilly! The Fair fans were delighted to see the goats.

Scrapbooks

On New Year's we posted on Facebook: "Let's see what everyone creates for the Fair on August 8-11 2024! It can't be done without you!"
Alta Mahan commented: "
More than what's created for the fair - are all the amazing memories that will be created AT fair!~. Looking forward to an incredible 2024 Fair!!!"

Alta is the Lead Barn Superintendent over the 4-H Goat Division (which is only one of her many talents).

We followed up on Facebook with an appropriately timed posting about the Fair's Scrapbook Collection. Our Fair Manager, Shelly Bennett, worked tirelessly to locate a grant to preserve and archive our 75+ years of scrapbooks. With the help of our amazing volunteers, we scanned every scrapbook and uploaded them onto our website. A few are still in the works, but most every year is represented. Under Shelly's direction, the scrapbooks have been properly prepared and archived and she has a wonderful plan for spotlighting the project at the 2024 Fair in August. Check out all the Scrapbooks on the History and Photos page.
